movie-the-haunting-connecticutDescription:
In this supernatural thriller, the Campbell family’s move to Connecticut takes a mysteriously dark turn when a series of shocking paranormal events reveals that their inviting new home is a former mortuary with a sordid past. Based on a true story, this terrifying tale stars Virginia Madsen and Martin Donovan as the well-meaning Campbell parents, Kyle Gallner as their cancer-stricken son and Elias Koteas as the enigmatic Rev. Nicholas Popescu.

Rated R, 1 hr. 42 min., 2009

Our Opinion:
This is a great ghost story with a supurb back story. I could see a prequel being made for this. The characters were OK but they do not reach the level of say Stir of Echos. Worth watching a second time. The DVD has a lot of extra material about this particular story and its associated crack pots.

movie-the-mistDescription:
After a brutal thunderstorm pounds a small town, the residents discover a malevolent mist hangs over their homes, killing anyone who remains outside. Trapped in a grocery store, a band of survivors must make a stand against the deadly fog. Based on a story by horror maestro Stephen King and directed by multiple Oscar nominee Frank Darabont, this spine chiller stars Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden and Andre Braugher.

Rated R, 2 hr. 7 min., 2007

Our Opinion:
Wildly fantastic! The characters had a lot of depth. The idea for the story was very cool. Great special effects. I won’t give away too much but this one gets very surreal on the second half.
